It’s running S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, and has a handful of cool little software enhancements, including a number of new Active Standby themes.

This admittedly odd looking Nokia has been brought to our attention courtesy of Russia’s own Mobile-Review, and while we’re still trying to decide whether or not the QWERTY slide-out keyboard is a turn off or totally awesome (with its dot matrix-styled font), we figured it prudent to pass along the information, anyway. Said mobile sports a 2-inch QVGA screen, backlit keys, a 1,000mAh battery good for 4.5 hours of yappin’, EDGE data, inbuilt GPS, 128MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, USB / Bluetooth and Symbian S60 running the show. We’re told to expect it out in European markets this April for €220 ($289), though worldwide availability remains a mystery. Have a look in the read link for eleventy billion more images and a poorly translated preview.

Blackberry Curve 8900 Launched in Indian Market

•January 16, 2009 • Leave a Comment

RIM announced the availability of the much-anticipated Blackberry Curve 8900 smartphone in India.

The smaller sibling of the Bold, the Curve borrows from its classy design cues and offers users a host of features in a compact frame. The only thing some users might miss out is the option to go 3G. However, this might not be a major concern here in India, thanks to our lack of 3G coverage. The lack of the 3G chip could also mean a considerably lower price than the Bold or even the Storm (which incidentally does not have WiFi!)

The handset seems perfect for the businessman on the move. As for the design, you cannot but notice the chrome strip at the bottom and wonder if folks at Nokia were impressed with this so much that they decided to give a similar treatment to the E71.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone features:

Weight: 110 grams
Display: 2.4-inch HVGA+ (480×360) light-sensing display
